OOTN: Bubblegoth Baller

This past Friday night was bananas! Bowling, late x-mas gifts, car break-downs, LOTS of shots, and hot guys sitting in my lap/grabbing my ass…say what? lol You know I was looking next level, so I figured I would do an Outfit of the Night! These photos were taken at 4am…my apologies if I look a bit busted in the face. XD

I was going for a creepy cute Bubblegoth look. Dark, but playful at the same time. Pink and black is one of my favorite color combos.

The sweatshirt and necklace are both from my Dolls Kill haul. Paired together, they are the perfect mix of light and dark, the ultimate goal of Bubblegoth. Unicorns make me happy and I feel childlike wearing that necklace.

ImageSpike ring is from Hot Topic. I’m always wearing spikes. Partially because they look rad, partially for protection. They are sharp as fuck. πŸ™‚ Eyeball bracelet is also from Dolls Kill. I see all.

Pants from Hot Topic. Houndstooth is rad. I love the zippers all over these, too.

Shoes 1Shoes 2

Bubblegum pink creepers are from T.U.K. shoes. Their online store has badass creepers in every color you can think of. The pink ones were just calling my name. I honestly want to just live in these shoes at all times.

I was originally going to film this OOTN, but I’m perpetually running late, so that didn’t happen. πŸ˜› The funeral home down the street from my house is the perfect backdrop. I’m such a creep. Anyways, I enjoyed putting this look together. Hope everybody likes it, too! Random photo time!

I wish a bitch would πŸ˜‰

Dolls Kill Haul

If you aren’t familiar with the online clothing boutiqueΒ Dolls Kill, then you should get acquainted. Edgy and original, Dolls Kill is for all you fashion rebels out there. They carry some of my favorite brands, including UNIF, Tripp NYC, and Lip Service. Dolls Kill sells cute stuff and some pretty dark shit, too, which I obvi love. Creepy cute is the ultimate look I’m trying to achieve. πŸ˜‰ This is sort of a Pastel Goth haul, since I’m really into that style right now. Let’s see what I got!

Stay Dark Pentagram Sweatshirt

I love the saying on this sweatshirt. ‘Staying dark’ is a mantra I try to live by. Let’s see how many ignorant people freak out when they see the pentagram. haha I already know who I’m wearing this one around.

Unicorn Playdate Necklace

How could I resist? I’m a unicorn, after all.

Beetlejuice Garter Leggings

I love leggings, stripes, and Beetlejuice. So the combo really excites me. Such sassy cutouts. I can’t wait to wear these to the club…or the grocery store.

Eyeball Bracelet

Eyeball accessories are so Pastel Goth from what I’ve seen. Yes please.

UNIF Prayer Choker

UNIF Prayer Choker

This choker is probably my favorite item from my haul. 90’s nostalgia, anyone? It’s just so me. Pink and sparkly with hearts, but dangerous with some spikes thrown in. Sadly, it doesn’t fit! I guess I have a large neck…oops. I can’t help that. lol One size fits all items can be misleading. Should I keep this badass piece? I could attach an extender and DIY the choker to fit. It was quite expensive and I’m already in love with it.

And that’s it for my Dolls Kill Haul! There were other really awesome items I wanted, but I’m not a rich bitch. That’s my only negative critique of Dolls Kill: their stuff is damn expensive. Worth it, but sometimes I’d rather make something myself or just buy a knockoff. Who cares about wearing only designer brands? So lame.

Now I must eagerly await my T.U.K. bubblegum pink and black creepers to come in the mail. They are the epitome of Bubblegoth! πŸ˜€ I’m going to do an Outfit of the Day with those babies soon. They’ll be here just in time for Spring. You can melt anytime snow. I’m ready to show some skin. πŸ˜‰

Elle King

Elle King is a super talented musician from the U.S. with an affinity for dirty rap covers, tattoos and banjos. Oh, I love this girl already.

Elle’s music blurs the lines between different genres. She incorporates Β elements of rock, soul, country, and pop into her music, creating a fresh and unique sound. Elle has a voice like Adele, humor similar to Al Green, and lyrical talent like Dolly Parton, who is one of her idols. She plays the guitar, piano, and my personal favorite, the banjo. A banjo just takes any song to the next level. πŸ˜‰

Elle King

Elle draws inspiration for her songs from relationships and break-ups, as evidenced in her song “Good To Be A Man”, a funny track about a failed romance. Humor is actually an important part of Elle’s music, which I always appreciate. Musicians who take themselves too seriously need to take a page from her book. Elle even covered a song by the filthy female rapper Khia, which turned out hilariously amazing. I also covered that Khia song…dirty minds think alike? πŸ˜€

A interesting tidbit about Elle King is that she is the daughter of actor/comedian Rob Schneider (she even starred in one of his films as a kid), though she’s quick to let it be known the two are not close. Elle used her natural talent and lots of hard work to get where she is today. She didn’t get any help from her father and grew up in Ohio (far from Los Angeles), but I’m sure some of Rob’s humor rubbed off on Elle.

I heard about Elle from my rad hair stylist Kelly. Along with doing bitchin’ hair, Kelly also works at The Fillmore, a popular concert venue in Detroit. Kelly gets to hear new artists all the time and met Elle after her performance one night. I’m totally jealous! But, so happy to have discovered Elle’s music. Her first album should be out very soon and I can’t wait. I’ll definitely have to catch her the next time she’s in town. And we can sing Khia together at the top of our lungs. No shame.

My next post was supposed to be a fun and light-hearted piece about a really cool musician I recently discovered. However, other events have shifted my focus to something a lot more serious: homophobia. Let me dive into what happened…

I woke up this morning, looked through my emails from bed as always, and gasped in horror at a comment I had received on my music profile. I will post it here verbatim:

“You sir are a fucking faggot. Have you ever fucking took singing lessons? My dog could do better then you! Hell my gay cousin getting ass raped is better! Just quit life you raging homo!”

Ouch! What did I do to deserve than venom? Absolutely nothing. Yet, this person seems to harbor a lot of hatred for me, someone they don’t even know. A critique of my singing would have sufficed. I respect other people’s opinions and I know my voice is not everyone’s cup of tea. I never claimed to be some amazing singer. It’s just something I love to do. On the other hand, viciously attacking my character with gay slurs and making light of rape is utterly unacceptable. I am thoroughly disgusted and angered. I haven’t encountered this level of hate in a long time. Luckily, I’m strong enough to handle it. So many LGBT youth out there are not, though. 😦

Homophobia is alive and well in the world. Just when I start to have faith that the world is progressing and becoming a more accepting place, this bomb drops out of thin air. So disheartening. First of all, I don’t need to be told I’m a faggot. I know I’m gay, thanks. And very proud of it. Second, how could you say something so vile about your own cousin? Rape is never something to joke about. It’s horrendous. I just hope your cousin has supportive and loving family members to surround himself with. No one needs to be around such toxicity. And no, I’m not going to go kill myself. Five years ago I might have. But, I love and accept myself now. No outside opinion will change that. You’re just going to have to deal with it, buddy.

I blocked this user and reported the comment to site support. I don’t want anyone else to be disrespected and attacked by this evil person. Oddly enough, the song this loser posted on is my most popular song with 88 downloads and 422 total plays. It seems quite a few people like my singing voice and don’t care about my sexual orientation…who would have thought?!

This experience just inspires me to be even more unapologetic for who I am. I will not and I cannot change. Homophobic people need to change. Or stay hateful if you must. But please, just let the rest of us be happy. Don’t worry about our lives, because we certainly don’t give two fucks what you do in the bedroom. Just be sure to use protection. πŸ˜‰

Love and light,

One Year Anniversary

Wow, my little blog is already a year old. Technically, the anniversary was back on February 25, but we all know I don’t get to anything in a timely manner. πŸ˜› I’m both surprised and proud of myself for keeping at it thus far. I may not have been consistent with my posts, but I refused to give up. This blog is like my sanctuary from the real world. And writing is how I cope with hardships.

The intent of this blog was to express myself in ways I felt I couldn’t in my daily life. I started it to reveal the real me. From crazy photo shoots to personal stories, nothing was off limits. I quickly discovered that as I opened up through blogging I also became much more comfortable with myself. I was beginning to transform into the person I had always wanted to show to the world. No more hiding. No more trepidation. I can’t quell my sass!

The Asylum Attendant persona is who I aspired to be. Fierce, successful, and honest. I didn’t like the life of Jonathan. He was too scared, too selfless, and much too boring. I wanted to escape his reality and enter a world free from restriction. This blog was my portal to a new identity. I like who I’ve become. πŸ™‚

I really enjoy sharing my love of music, androgyny, Gothic culture, poetry, psychology, and cute boys πŸ˜‰ with such a rad audience. I know my next year of blogging will be even more exciting and unpredictable.

Much love from my asylum to yours,

Super Sassy
